EFIS Generic Training
More and more airplanes are moving to "Glass" cockpits, whether it is being done at the factory for new, or through upgrades and retrofits to existing airplanes. To take fullest advantage of this amazing technology, training is the key. Wright Aviation has 3400+ hours of experience flying and teaching in today's Technically Advanced Aircraft. This includes EFIS systems from makers such as Avidyne, Garmin, Aspen and Honeywell.
The transition to "glass" does not have to be intimidating or daunting. But, as the most recent NTSB report points out, training must be thorough for the full safety of flight benefits to be derived.
Wright Aviation is offering a range of courses starting with a basic introduction to a generic Glass (EFIS) cockpit, to manufacturer specific Glass Transition as well as a detailed, system specific training on flying and taking full advantage of your new advanced avionics cockpit.
More detailed information on each offering is available below. To learn more or to make an appointment to get started, call me at 480-203-0599 or send me an email at info@wrightaviation.net
Introduction to Glass: Learn the basics of today's Electronic Flight Information Systems (EFIS) to better understand what it is, how it works, its uses, advantages and many features.
Here's a quick look:

This course is designed to give you the basics. The focus is on the fundamentals, the terminology employed, where to look for certain bits of information, some discussion on the source of the raw data, how it is derived and so on as well as what you, as a pilot, will need to do the adjust to glass.
Equally important, the course also discusses what can go wrong, and steps each pilot must take to maintain an adequate margin of safety. It also delves into the integration of various components such as navigation equipment, flight automation, moving maps, weather depiction, engine instrumentation and more.
This course is intended as a basic introduction rather than a course to qualify someone on a specific system. While there are indeed generic similarities between various manufacturers of systems, each one will require more detailed training. Completion of this course will build the foundation blocks. Subsequent courses will build on these basics as you learn how that maker's systems works, how it displays specifics and, most importantly, how it interfaces with all of the cockpit components that go into building and integrated system.
If you are thinking about buying or converting your airplane's instrument panel to glass and would like to take a basic course on EFIS prior to making a commitment, this is the course for you. It is a one-on-one session with computer aided training, in a structured 4 hour session.
